About TVS

TVS Motor Company is part of a Chennai-based group with deep roots in Indian manufacturing, and it has built a reputation as the most engineering-minded of the big Indian two-wheeler makers. It makes motorcycles, scooters, mopeds and three-wheelers, from the ultra-practical XL moped to the Apache sport bikes, and it has grown into one of the largest two-wheeler companies in the world, exporting to dozens of countries across Asia, Africa and Latin America.

The company built bikes with Suzuki until the partnership ended around the turn of the millennium, then struck out on its own with models such as the Apache and the Jupiter scooter, which became a fixture of Indian streets. TVS also became BMW Motorrad's partner, building the G 310 models in India alongside its own Apache RR 310 on a related platform. In 2020 it bought Britain's Norton Motorcycles, giving it a storied premium brand to rebuild. Racing programs and a love of technology give TVS a sporty image; critics mainly point to busy lineups.

Electrics are now central to the story. The iQube has become one of India's best-selling electric scooters, helping TVS post record sales, and the company has been building out electric three-wheelers and export models too. It competes head-to-head with Hero MotoCorp, Honda, Bajaj, Ola Electric and Ather across almost every segment, from mopeds to premium motorcycles. Coverage follows monthly sales and quarterly earnings, new Apache, Ntorq and Raider models, iQube updates, the Norton revival and international expansion.
