About Armada

The Armada is Nissan's biggest SUV in America, a body-on-frame three-row hauler aimed squarely at the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition and Toyota Sequoia. The first one, launched for 2004, was built in Mississippi on the Titan pickup's frame and powered by a big V8. The second generation, from 2017, became a rebadged version of the Nissan Patrol, one of the most respected off-roaders in the Middle East and Australia, imported from Japan.

The current Armada, introduced for the 2025 model year, follows that recipe with the latest Patrol: a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 replaces the V8, a far more modern cabin brings big screens and driver aids, and an off-road-focused Pro-4X version adds locking differentials and an adjustable air suspension. Reviewers have praised its power, comfort and towing ability, while noting it is pricey and thirsty in the way all big SUVs are.

The Patrol's heritage stretches back to 1951, and Middle Eastern buyers celebrate it with limited editions and an almost religious loyalty. In the United States the Armada's luxury twin is the Infiniti QX80, while its rivals include the Tahoe, Expedition, Sequoia, Jeep Wagoneer and GMC Yukon. This page follows Armada pricing, trim packages such as dark-themed editions, recall notices, reviews and the wider Patrol story, from right-hand-drive production for South Africa to anniversary models in the Gulf. Viral ownership stories, like a reported fire blamed on heated seats, turn up here too, and the recall notices are worth checking for anyone shopping a used example.
