About Epiq
The Epiq is Skoda's answer to the question every European carmaker has been asked for a decade: where is the affordable electric car? A compact crossover roughly the size of the Kamiq, it rides on the Volkswagen Group's new front-wheel-drive electric platform for small cars, shared with the Volkswagen ID. Cross and Cupra Raval, and it is built in Spain. It previews and then carries Skoda's Modern Solid design language into the small-car class, with a boxy, confident shape and the usual Skoda emphasis on interior space and practical touches.
Skoda showed the Epiq first as a concept in 2025 before unveiling the production car, and early first drives have been encouraging, praising its roominess, maturity and sensible software. Its importance is out of proportion to its size: if the Volkswagen Group can make money on small EVs built in Europe, it can hold off the Chinese brands pushing in at the bottom of the market. If it cannot, the whole strategy looks shakier.
It competes with the Renault 5 and 4, the Kia EV2, the Citroen e-C3, the BYD Dolphin Surf and the closely related ID. Cross. Sales charts from the Czech Republic and beyond have already begun to feature it. This page follows first drives and reviews, prices, specifications and range, early sales data and the corporate decisions that shape Volkswagen Group's push into affordable electric cars. For a brand built on giving buyers more car for less money, the Epiq may turn out to be the purest expression of the idea yet, and the one with the most riding on it.
