About Enyaq
The Enyaq was the moment Skoda went electric in earnest. Introduced in 2020 on Volkswagen Group's MEB platform, the same hardware under the Volkswagen ID.4 and Audi Q4 e-tron, it was a practical family SUV with the trademark Skoda twist of more space, more clever details and a cabin that felt a little warmer than its cousins'. The name draws on an Irish word for the source of life, which is either poetic or a stretch, depending on your mood. Buyers did not mind either way, and it quickly became one of Europe's best-selling EVs.
A sleeker Enyaq Coupe followed, along with a quick vRS version, and continual software and battery updates improved efficiency and charging. A recent facelift gave the car the cleaner Modern Solid look introduced on the Elroq, with a black Tech-Deck face in place of the illuminated grille. Reviewers praise the ride, the space and the sense that it is simply a good family car that happens to be electric; early criticism centered on software and infotainment responsiveness, which updates have since addressed.
It competes with the Tesla Model Y, the Kia EV6, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Volkswagen ID.4 and a growing tide of Chinese electric SUVs, and it is sold across Europe and in Australia and India. With the larger seven-seat Peaq arriving above it and the Elroq below, the Enyaq sits at the heart of Skoda's electric family. Long-term tests, pricing and lease deals, sales data and recalls all flow through here.
