About GV70
The GV70 is the Genesis that convinced a lot of skeptics. Launched for the 2022 model year in the busiest, most lucrative corner of the luxury market, it arrived with a sculpted, wide-shouldered body, the brand's twin-line lamps and an interior that looked like it had been lifted from a car costing twice as much. Reviewers who expected a nicely trimmed Hyundai instead found a crossover with real poise, and the comparisons with the BMW X3, Mercedes GLC and Audi Q5 stopped being polite and started being close.
Underneath, the GV70 rides on a rear-drive-based platform shared with the G70 sport sedan, which gives it better balance than many front-drive rivals. Buyers choose between a turbocharged four-cylinder and a punchy twin-turbo V6, with all-wheel drive widely available. Owners rave about the materials and the generous standard equipment; critics point to thirsty fuel economy, a tight rear seat and cargo space that trails the class leaders. It is, in other words, a crossover tuned for the driver first and the cargo bay second, which is exactly how its German rivals made their names.
An all-electric version, the Electrified GV70, followed with the same handsome shape and a battery pack under the floor, and it is assembled in Alabama for North American buyers. A refreshed GV70 brought a larger screen, cleaner interior details and special editions such as the darkened Graphite trim. It remains one of the strongest arguments for the Genesis brand, and the news here follows its updates, long-term reviews, recalls, pricing and the never-ending showdowns with its German rivals.
