About Q6 e-tron
The Q6 e-tron is the first Audi built on PPE, the Premium Platform Electric that Audi developed with Porsche, and it shares its fundamental hardware with the electric Porsche Macan. Built in Ingolstadt, Audi's home city, and launched in 2024, it is a midsize electric SUV that sits roughly where the Q5 sits in the combustion lineup, and it carries the hopes of the brand's second-generation EV strategy after the first wave of e-tron models struggled with range and efficiency.
Its 800-volt electrical architecture enables very fast DC charging, and its range and efficiency are a step up from Audi's earlier electric SUVs. The interior is a showcase of new technology, with a curved display, an optional passenger screen and augmented-reality head-up display. The SQ6 adds serious performance, and the Q6 Sportback offers a lower, sleeker roofline. Reviewers praise the refinement and the charging speed; some find the cabin plainer and more digital than Audi traditionalists would like.
The Q6 e-tron faces the BMW iX3, Mercedes GLC with EQ Technology, Genesis GV70 Electrified, Tesla Model Y and, inevitably, its Porsche cousin. In some markets, including Australia, Audi has cut its price sharply as the company repositions its electric lineup, a sign of how quickly the luxury EV market has turned in favor of buyers. Its long-term success will depend on whether shoppers who once defaulted to a Q5 can be persuaded that electric is the better daily choice. This page follows its reviews, price changes, range and charging tests and recalls.
