About Palisade
The Palisade is Hyundai's largest SUV and the brand's flagship family hauler, a three-row vehicle that offers near-luxury comfort at a mainstream price. It has been a major success in the United States, where buyers have embraced its spacious cabin, quiet ride and upscale Calligraphy trims. It shares its underpinnings with the Kia Telluride, and the two Korean SUVs together reshaped the three-row segment, forcing established rivals from Toyota, Honda and Ford to raise their game.
The first-generation Palisade arrived for the 2020 model year and quickly won praise for its design, comfort and value, though critics occasionally noted its V6 engine's fuel economy. The second generation, which arrived for the 2026 model year, brought a bolder, more upright design, a more luxurious cabin and, for the first time, a hybrid powertrain built around a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. That hybrid system has earned industry recognition for its blend of power and efficiency, and Hyundai has added dressed-up variants such as the Black Ink edition.
The Palisade competes with the Kia Telluride, Toyota Grand Highlander, Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-90, Ford Explorer, Chevrolet Traverse and Subaru Ascent, as well as with entry-level luxury SUVs. Its strengths include space, comfort, features and value; its main challenge is that the competition has caught up, with several rivals offering hybrid powertrains of their own. The Palisade is built in Korea and is sold in North America, Korea, Australia, the Middle East and other markets.
Coverage includes reviews and comparison tests of the latest Palisade and Palisade Hybrid, trim and price changes, recall notices and sales results, as well as new-market launches as Hyundai takes its flagship to more countries. Look for comparisons with the Telluride, its Korean cousin, and with the Ioniq 9, the electric three-row alternative that sits in the same showroom and competes for many of the same family budgets. The question for shoppers is increasingly which powertrain, not which brand, makes the most sense.
