About Junior
The Junior is Alfa Romeo's smallest car and its first fully electric model, and it arrived with a story. Revealed in 2024 as the Milano, it was renamed within days after the Italian government objected that a car built in Poland should not carry the name of an Italian city. Alfa chose Junior instead, a name with its own heritage from the GT 1300 Junior of the 1960s. The fuss gave the little crossover more publicity than any marketing budget could buy.
The Junior rides on Stellantis' small-car platform shared with the Jeep Avenger and Peugeot 2008, and is built in Tychy, Poland. It comes as a mild hybrid with a small turbocharged engine or as the Elettrica, and the top Veloce electric version has around 280 horsepower, a limited-slip differential and a lowered chassis aimed squarely at keen drivers. Critics like the styling, especially the Scudetto grille, and the Veloce's agility, while pointing out the shared switchgear and a price that can outrun its mainstream cousins.
The Junior is aimed at Europe, where small premium crossovers sell in big numbers, and at younger buyers who might never have considered an Alfa Romeo. Its rivals include the Mini Countryman and Aceman, the Volvo EX30, Smart #1, Lancia Ypsilon, Audi Q2 and the electric crossovers coming from Chinese brands. News covers model-year updates such as new trims and wheels, special editions, reviews of both the hybrid and Elettrica versions, pricing and the sales numbers that will show whether Alfa's smallest car can do the heavy lifting for the brand.
