About Duster

The Duster is the car that turned Dacia from a budget curiosity into a brand people actually wanted. Launched in 2010, it offered genuine SUV looks, decent ground clearance and an optional four-wheel-drive system for the price of a small hatchback, and it found eager buyers everywhere from British farms to Romanian mountain villages. Sold as a Renault in markets such as India, Russia and Latin America, it became one of the most important models in the Renault Group and a symbol of no-nonsense motoring.

The second-generation car of 2017 improved the quality without losing the honesty. The third generation, launched in 2024 on the Renault Group's CMF-B platform, brought a bolder, chunkier look, a much better interior, hybrid power and a mild-hybrid 4x4 version, and kept the bi-fuel LPG option many buyers love. Reviewers have consistently praised its off-road ability and value; the compromises are a firm ride, some hard plastics and road noise, which most owners happily accept for the money saved.

The Duster competes with the MG ZS, the Skoda Kamiq, the Suzuki Vitara and, increasingly, cheap Chinese SUVs, while its bigger sibling, the Bigster, now sits above it. Expect price changes, specification updates and comparison tests here, along with news about the Duster's role in Renault's global lineup, including a revived Renault Duster for India. For buyers who want a capable SUV without a heavy bill, it remains one of the clearest answers on the market.
