About 3008
The 3008 is the car that turned Peugeot from a maker of sensible hatchbacks into a design-led SUV brand. The first generation, launched in 2009, was an awkward crossover-minivan hybrid, but the second, which arrived in 2016, was a revelation: chiseled, upmarket and fitted with the first full i-Cockpit, it won European Car of the Year for 2017 and became one of Peugeot's best sellers and most profitable models. Its seven-seat sibling, the 5008, followed the same formula.
The third-generation 3008, revealed in 2023, was the first car on Stellantis' STLA Medium platform. It adopted a sloping, coupe-like roofline and a huge curved panoramic display, and launched as the electric E-3008 before mild-hybrid and plug-in versions joined the range. The electric model can be had with a long-range battery, and reviewers have praised its design, comfort and refinement, while pointing out its weight, a firm price and a cabin layout that again asks drivers to like the small steering wheel.
The 3008 competes with the Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, Renault Austral, Toyota RAV4 and Ford Kuga, and with a rising number of Chinese electric SUVs such as the BYD Seal U. It is one of the core products of Peugeot and of Stellantis in Europe. Coverage follows reviews of each powertrain, pricing changes, recalls, sales results and new models such as the 5008, built on the same platform.
