About 2008

The 2008 is Peugeot's answer to a question European buyers keep asking: what if the supermini sat a little higher? The first generation, launched in 2013, was a modest crossover version of the 208; the second, which arrived in 2019, grew into a properly styled small SUV with the same angular face, a longer wheelbase and much more presence. It quickly became one of the best-selling crossovers on the continent and one of Peugeot's most important models worldwide.

Like the 208, the 2008 rides on a shared Stellantis platform that allowed petrol, diesel and fully electric versions from the same assembly lines, with the E-2008 offering a no-compromise electric choice. A mid-life update brought the three-claw lighting signature, the larger Peugeot shield badge and more electric range, and the revised petrol engine lineup, including the new Turbo 100, now powers it. Reviewers like the comfort, the design and the cabin, while pointing to rear space that trails rivals and an i-Cockpit layout not every driver gets along with.

The 2008 competes with the Renault Captur, Volkswagen T-Roc and Taigo, Toyota Yaris Cross, Ford Puma, Hyundai Kona, Kia Stonic and its Stellantis siblings, the Opel Frontera and Jeep Avenger. It is also built and sold in South America. News collected here follows facelifts, electric range updates, engine changes, recalls, pricing, comparison tests and the sales figures that show whether Peugeot can hold its ground in a crowded, price-sensitive segment.
