About Gravity
The Lucid Gravity is the company's attempt to put its efficiency wizardry into the body Americans actually buy. Revealed in 2023 and delivered from Arizona starting in 2025, it is an electric SUV that manages two rows with an optional third, a deep front trunk and a cabin that feels a class larger than its exterior suggests. Lucid's compact motors are the reason: by shrinking the machinery, the designers handed the space to people.
On the road the Gravity drives more like a tall sport sedan than a family hauler, with strong acceleration, a composed air-suspended ride and the long range that is the brand's calling card. It was also the first Lucid built for the Tesla charging standard, with a native NACS port. The launch, however, was messy, and it left a mark on the brand's reputation. Early owners reported software glitches and missing features, promised functions such as phone-as-key slipped repeatedly, and the problems helped fuel investor litigation. Updates have steadily closed the gaps, and the Gravity's newer interface has since migrated to the Air.
Rivals include the Rivian R1S, Tesla Model X, Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, BMW iX and Kia EV9. The Gravity also carries a second career: Uber and Nuro chose it as the base vehicle for a planned robotaxi fleet. Reports on this page cover model-year changes, software updates and recalls, reviews and comparison tests, inventory and pricing, and how well the SUV is selling against the ambitious expectations Lucid set for it when it promised the Gravity would be the model that finally brought the brand to scale.
