About Terramar
The Terramar is Cupra's bid for the heart of the European family market. Revealed in 2024, it is a compact SUV named after a historic banked racing circuit near Sitges, south of Barcelona, and it shares its underpinnings with the latest Volkswagen Tiguan. Cupra builds it at Audi's factory in Gyor, Hungary, rather than in Spain, a reminder of how international these group products really are. It is taller and more practical than the Formentor, with a sharper face and the brand's trademark copper detailing, and it aims at buyers who want family space with a sportier image.
Engines include mild-hybrid gasoline units and plug-in hybrids that can cover long distances on electric power, plus a quick VZ version at the top. Reviewers have generally liked its ride and handling balance and the improved interior, while noting that it is pricier than its Volkswagen sibling and not dramatically different underneath. Special editions such as the Tribe Edition have added styling flourishes, and rumors have swirled about an even more powerful version.
It competes with the Volkswagen Tiguan, the Peugeot 3008, the Hyundai Tucson, the Kia Sportage, the Ford Kuga and the BYD Seal U, and it is sold across Europe and in Australia. This page follows reviews, editions, price changes and specification updates, along with news about Cupra's other larger models such as the electric Tavascan, built in China. For families who find the Formentor a little too low and the Tiguan a little too sober, the Terramar is meant to be the sweet spot, and sales across Europe will show whether that middle path pays off for Cupra.
