About Triton
The Triton is Mitsubishi's global workhorse, a midsize pickup sold across Southeast Asia, Australia, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Japan. Its lineage stretches back to the Forte of the late 1970s, and in many markets it has been sold as the L200, a name that became shorthand for durable, affordable utes and pickups. Built primarily in Thailand, it competes in the same rough-and-tumble market as the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger and Isuzu D-Max.
The latest generation, introduced in 2023, brought a new ladder frame, a bigger and stronger body, more powerful diesel engines and a more modern cabin, while keeping Mitsubishi's Super Select four-wheel-drive system. Reviewers have praised its ride and capability, though some find it a step behind the Ranger in refinement. The L200 badge has also returned to Europe after a long absence, a sign of renewed confidence in the truck as the company expands its reach.
The Triton is also becoming an alliance workhorse. Honda has confirmed it will sell its own version, its first body-on-frame pickup, around 2028, under a new agreement with Mitsubishi, while Nissan has explored related trucks of its own. This page follows those partnerships along with Triton reviews, pricing, recalls and sales, plus the Pajero Sport SUV that shares its bones and the revived Pajero that may one day join them.
