About Valhalla and Valkyrie

Aston Martin's hypercar adventure began with an audacious idea: to build a road car with the performance of a Formula One car. The result was the Valkyrie, developed with Red Bull's engineering arm and designed under the guidance of famed Formula One engineer Adrian Newey. First shown as a concept in 2016, it arrived with a naturally aspirated Cosworth V12 that revs to stratospheric levels, a hybrid system and aerodynamics that generate enormous downforce. Only a small number of coupes and Spiders were made, and a track-only AMR Pro followed.

The Valkyrie was demanding, uncompromising and astonishing, a car that delivered an almost racing-car experience on the road. A racing version has since competed in the top class of endurance racing, including at Le Mans, giving Aston Martin a presence in hypercar racing. The car also marked a turning point for the brand, proving that Aston could compete at the very top of the performance world rather than merely building elegant grand tourers.

The Valhalla, first revealed as a concept in 2019 and later reworked into its production form, is a more usable mid-engined plug-in hybrid with a twin-turbocharged V8 and electric motors producing more than a thousand horsepower. It is Aston's first series-production mid-engined car and is aimed squarely at the Ferrari SF90 and McLaren's hybrid supercars. The Valhalla Spider, an open-top version, has since been revealed as the brand's fastest convertible yet, and most of its limited production was spoken for almost immediately.

For collectors, these cars are both investments and statements. The coverage on this page follows reveals and first drives, the Valhalla Spider, racing news from the World Endurance Championship and Le Mans, deliveries and special commissions, auction results and the collaborations, from watches to motorcycles, that Aston uses to connect its hypercars with other luxury brands. These are cars that most people will only ever see in photographs, which makes every sighting on a public road an event.
