About Chrysler 300
The Chrysler 300 was the car that made big American sedans cool again. Launched for the 2005 model year, it combined a long hood, a tall, slab-sided body and an imposing grille with rear-wheel drive and an available Hemi V8. Designed by a team led by Ralph Gilles, it looked expensive, and it drew comparisons with luxury cars costing far more. It became a pop-culture favorite, appearing in music videos and movies, and it helped revive Chrysler's fortunes in the mid-2000s.
The 300 name dates back to the Chrysler C-300 of 1955, a powerful luxury coupe that started a series of letter cars, each faster and more exclusive than the last. The modern 300 was built on the LX platform, which used some Mercedes-Benz components, and it was produced in Brampton, Ontario, alongside the Dodge Charger and Challenger. A second generation followed in 2011 with a more refined interior and new technology, and it was offered in a range of versions, from basic V6 models to the high-performance 300C and SRT8.
Production ended in December 2023, when Stellantis closed the Brampton plant's sedan lines. The final edition, the 300C with a 6.4-liter Hemi V8, sold out quickly and became an instant collectible. Since then, Chrysler has focused on its Pacifica minivan and promised new crossovers, and talk of a 300 revival has resurfaced periodically, but no replacement has been confirmed. Used 300s remain popular for their comfort, space and swagger, and well-kept Hemi cars hold their value better than most big sedans.
The feed follows the 300's afterlife: collector values, used-car advice, recalls, auction results and any word of a revival, since Chrysler's designers have hinted that their new platforms leave room for more than crossovers. Expect stories about the classic letter cars of the 1950s and 1960s, decades-parked survivors and patient restorations, along with the broader conversation about whether the big rear-drive American sedan has a future in a market ruled by SUVs and pickups. For now, the 300 lives on in driveways, used lots and a surprising number of music videos.
