About Envista
The Buick Envista is the most stylish thing to happen to Buick's entry-level lineup in years. Launched for the 2024 model year, it is a small crossover with a sloping, almost fastback roofline and a low stance that makes it look more like a lifted sport sedan than a utility vehicle. It arrived with a starting price that undercut most of the segment, and suddenly Buick had a car that younger buyers, and plenty of empty-nesters downsizing, actually noticed.
Under the skin the Envista shares its platform and powertrain with the Chevrolet Trax, built by GM Korea in Changwon, South Korea. That means a small turbocharged three-cylinder, front-wheel drive only and an emphasis on space and value rather than speed. Testers have praised the roomy back seat, the smooth highway ride and the bang for the buck; they have also noted that the engine runs out of breath when loaded up and that the lack of all-wheel drive rules it out for some buyers in snowy states.
The Envista sits below the Encore GX in Buick's range and competes with the Honda HR-V, Hyundai Kona, Kia Seltos, Subaru Crosstrek and its own Chevy sibling. Its Korean production has kept it largely clear of the China tariff debate that dogs the Envision, though trade terms with Korea still shape its pricing. Sport Touring and Avenir trims dress it up further for those who want a little more chrome and a slightly plusher cabin.
Coverage here includes first drives, long-term impressions and comparison tests, recall notices, pricing and incentive news, trade-in and resale stories, and the sales figures that show how well a stylish budget Buick is working in a segment where every dollar on the window sticker is fought over. Watch, too, for news from Korea, where GM's export plants supply much of the American small-car market and where labor, trade and investment decisions can ripple all the way to a Buick dealer's lot in Ohio or Arizona.
