About C5 Aircross
The C5 Aircross is Citroen's family SUV and the clearest expression of the brand's comfort-first philosophy. Launched in China in 2017 and in Europe the following year, it introduced Citroen's Advanced Comfort suspension, which uses progressive hydraulic cushions to soak up bumps, along with deeply padded seats and three individual rear chairs that slide and fold. It looked like a softened, friendlier rival to the many sporty SUVs on the market and found a loyal following among families who valued ride quality over cornering speed.
The first generation offered petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid power and was facelifted in 2022. The second generation, revealed in 2025, grew in size and adopted Stellantis' STLA Medium platform, shared with the Peugeot 3008 and Opel Grandland, bringing mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric versions with a long-range battery option. Its styling is more angular, and its cabin offers more space and technology. Reviewers praise the comfort and practicality, while noting that soft suspension and a softer brand image make it less engaging than some rivals.
The C5 Aircross competes with the Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, Renault Austral, Toyota RAV4 and Ford Kuga, as well as its own Peugeot and Opel cousins. In India it has been sold as Citroen's flagship SUV. Coverage collects reviews and long-term tests, pricing and discounts, recalls, sales results and the details of each powertrain. The bigger story is whether Citroen's choice to sell softness, space and value rather than sportiness can win buyers in a class where most rivals promise driving thrills that few families ever use.
