The 001 was Zeekr's opening statement, and a confident one. Revealed in 2021 as the brand's first model, it was a long, low electric shooting brake, part hatchback and part wagon, that grew out of a Lynk & Co concept and became the first car built on the Geely group's SEA electric architecture. It looked like nothing else on Chinese roads, offered real practicality and serious performance, and sold strongly in China, giving the new brand instant credibility and a distinctive identity.
Zeekr has updated it repeatedly. Battery options have included a very large pack for long range, an 800-volt electrical system arrived to speed up charging, and the 001 FR, a four-motor performance version with more than a thousand horsepower, turned it into a family car capable of embarrassing supercars. Reviewers have praised its comfort, range and pace, while some have noted its size and the complexity of its software and controls. Its blend of practicality and power has earned it a following among enthusiasts.
Outside China, the 001 has been sold in Europe and parts of Asia, where it competes with the Tesla Model S, the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo, the Audi e-tron GT and the newer Zeekr 7GT, which offers a similar shooting-brake idea in a smaller package.
